What is this programme about

Technology is weaving itself into the fabric of our daily lives. Smaller, cheaper and more powerful computer technologies, such as biosensors, wearables, wireless sensor networks, microcontroller-mounted circuit boards and smart phones, have allowed computing to move away from the desktop and onto our bodies, hands, clothes and all around us.

These developments have implications for design. People’s experiences are shaped and created through technology. Design involves much than just helping people accomplish certain tasks more effectively. Designers need to consider the role and value of digital services and products in people’s lives.

On the dynamic and engaging Communication and Multimedia Design – User Experience bachelor's degree programme you will research, design, create and learn. This cycle, which is central to User Experience (UX), will enable you to think as a designer. Designers research people’s experiences, emotions, values and goals and how people's daily lives change with computer technology. During the Communication and Multimedia Design – User Experience bachelor's programme, you will design interactive concepts based on User Experience.

You will be challenged to experiment. We want you to ‘tinker’ with technology and research, and try out new ways to evaluate experience, emotion and meaning. You will get hands-on experience in workshops with research, programming and prototyping and work on projects with business partners.

Lea Maria Wende, exchange student of Kiel University of Applied Sciences, Germany, about studying at CMD:

"I have chosen to study at CMD at The Hague University of Applied Sciences because I wanted to get an international view of interactive media, particularly interaction design. The practical working with actual clients helps to become more confident handling design projects. Guest lectures of people who have espertise in their fields give important insights as well."
