A growing number of companies and organisations are using games for various objectives. Aside from entertainment, games can offer solutions: from advertising and branding to education, self-awareness and even behaviour change, like eating healthier or improving exercise.
The international Game Design & Development Major (GDD) revolves around game design, game development and how games are implemented to reach a specific purpose. You will work on game concepts, 2D and 3D artwork, game development and game evaluation, adjusted in line with current developments in the curriculum. While working in a team, you learn how you can turn a game concept into a final product and how to involve the end user in the development of the product. There is extra emphasis on research, innovation, intercultural communication and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, you will work on developing specific professional skills needed as a game designer, game artist, game developer or game evaluator.
Upon graduation you will receive a Bachelor of Communication. Game Design & Development is part of the Communication Systems study programme, which is fully accredited by the NVAO, the Dutch and Belgian official accreditation body. Approval of the NVAO indicates that programmes meet the quality requirements set for higher education by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Accredited programmes may use the NVAO logo.
