The Design study programme (CROHO Design) consists of three specializations:
All specializations within the Design study programme have a national as well as international dimension. The study programme is overseen by ambitious teams of teaching staff. Each one of the staff members works in the field and besides this they also teach. The fact that all specializations are given on the same campus simultaneously is unique and provides a significant added value. Whilst the disciplines each maintain their own character, because of their contiguity, they reinforce and influence each other. This produces a productive level of interaction between students and teachers. Cross-fertilization adds an element of profundity to the products and means that our specializations pay greater attention to materiality and craftsmanship. This includes the use of well-equipped workspaces where you will be instructed in the skills of the discipline and where you can work either independently or under supervision.
You are encouraged to learn, experiment, investigate and innovate by yourself. It is important for you to develop your own artistic vision and so to this end, we regularly organize excursions and visits, or we participate at exhibitions ourselves, because we believe you should be given your own shop window, as well as look beyond the confines of your own artistic discipline.
The Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design has a rich history. Its location in the historic center and the different architectural styles reflect that. Here you will feel the craft and its atmosphere every day. This is the place where you think about art and what you would like to do with it.
Artistic freedomYou get freedom for artistic brutality, experimenting and the use of new media. The Academy is not only an education, but also a place where you can work independently and in a team.
If you are talented, if you have ambition, if you are disciplined and if you like to experiment, join our artitistic community.
The main language is Dutch. A basic level of control in the Dutch language is mandatory to follow the programme.
