Objectives:
Research training in the field of migration processes, ethnic relations (acculturation, integration and ethnic conflict) and multiculturalism. MSc's are trained in statistical analysis of comparative data in order to test theories and explanations of relevant processes. The MSc prepares for further PhD training in the field of migration, ethnic relations and multiculturalism.

International migration: theories, types, trends and policies; ethnic identification and categorisation: the question of identity; cultural diversity in family patterns: ethnic minorities in the Netherlands; acculturation, ethnic mobility and ethnic mobilisation: the dynamics of integration; multiculturalism and theories of pluralism; racism and nationalism in Western, Central and Eastern Europe; comparative research; methods and assignments I; comparative research: methods and assignments II.
Modes of instruction:
