Methods of application

Studielink is a central collecting point of all applications, but not all universities and colleges are a part of it. In case you applied via Studielink for a university which does not participate in the new system, you will be informed about it. If so, you may be asked to make an additional application on the respective university website.

A registration via IB-Group is therefore not possible since October 2007, but this institution is still responsible for application for scholarships, financial aid from the Netherlands and Collegegeldkrediet, as well as for the language examinations NT2. You will find more information on this topic when you click on the menu item ''financing''.

Information included in the application will be forwarded from the Studielink to IB-Group, but as mentioned before, no direct application can be made by the latter. Studielink is thus an upstream tool with the following advantages:

  • You can directly apply for enrolment online in English, German or French
  • Your studielink-account enables you to get a better overview of applications you made
  • An application can easily be created and deleted.

How to apply

1. Central application via Studielink

First, you have to register at Studielink (button “apply for user name and password”). After you have agreed to the conditions, you will be asked for your personal data. You have to type in your individual user name, email address and mobile phone number. At this point, some disabilities may occur. German telephone numbers are longer than the Dutch ones. For this reason, a correct entry is not possible. Studielink has already been informed about this error. In case of need, shorten your number. As soon as you have confirmed the data and have sent it, you will receive an email with a password. This password enables you to log in at Studielink and to make an application for your chosen degree programme.

To make an application, you have to use the button “log in” and type in your user name and password, which you received in your email from Studielink.

The following application can be easily explained in eight steps. You make an application for matriculation, type in appropriate personal data and choose one degree programme. Here you have to choose a place you want to study at. A search for degree programmes does is not possible yet. After you have chosen the place, a list of degree programmes offered there will pop up. Using your log in, you have a stable access to your data.

But be careful: because not all universities and colleges taking part in this project, Studielink informs you if this refers to your choice. If so, you may be asked to make an additional application on the respective university website. Some links to the universities do not work satisfactorily. You can easily reach the university want to apply for via Google by giving in its name in the searchbar. Your data will be forwarded to the IB-Groep anyway, and from there, transferred directly to the university.

2. Additional, direct application at chosen university.

In some cases, an additional application via the university website is necessary. The university solely decides if you fulfil the criteria for the specific study programme. Some courses require a specific subject-combination in your high school diploma (e.g. Human Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine) or even a qualification examination to which you have to apply directly at the university (e.g. Arts and Design or Logopedics). For the degree programmes which are taught in Dutch, a language certificate is needed (NT2 or ITN). For English-speaking degree programmes a certificate in English has to be provided (IELTS or Toefl). Some universities offer language courses for their students within classes.

More detailed information on admission requirements are only legitimate when found on the universities’ websites!
