Educational requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in the fields of history, social sciences or English literature or those who have reached an equivalent level of university education.

Objectives:
The Master's degree programme in American studies will prepare students for postgraduate studies, independent research, journalism, as well as for a variety of advisory, managerial jobs in advisory organisations and government institutions.

Subjects:
Major issues in American history; democracy in America; US-European relations; the US as a culture presence in Europe.

Modes of instruction:
Seminars with weekly written assignments. Supervised individual research resulting in a thesis. All classes are taught in small groups, with a maximum of 20 students. Students are expected to attend and to participate actively in classes.
