Objectives:
The course graduate has a broad view on the requirements for a responsible use of animals in research and qualities for a leader position in the field of animal-based research.

Subjects:
Biology and husbandry of laboratory animals; gnotobiology and diseases; design of animal experiments; experimental techniques; recognition and alleviation of pain and stress; animal alternatives; ethical aspects.

Modes of instruction:
Practical course on laboratory animal science, lectures, practicals on handling, anaethesia and surgery; excursions and research project.
