Objectives:
Participants learn how to analyse the dynamics of rural livelihoods and to work out possible sensitive interventions that will contribute to their socio-economic improvement. Participants learn how to stimulate, support and manage rural development organizations, institutions and businesses in a gender sensitive way.
Subjects:
Organizational theories and management; financial management; leadership; rural livelihoods; external influences on rural livelihoods; land tenure and land use; contemporary agricultural policies and approaches; contemporary rural development policies and approaches; gender planning; research strategies and methods.
Modes of instruction:
Lectures, case studies, individual and group assignments, excursions in the field of rural technology, animal and crop production, simulation exercises, implementing a rapid rural appraisal during field work.
