Introduction

Registration restrictions in the Netherlands are quite uncommon.

Registration restrictions apply in the following cases only:

Dutch government limits admittance to the courses to avoid a possible surplus of labour. Limits are based on analyses of the labour market and calculated forecasts of employment opportunities on the Dutch market.
The demand exceeds the maximum number of students. In the Netherlands restrictions are put in place on the basis of the application process, depending on individual demand.

Registration restrictions in the Netherlands are called “Numerus Fixus” .
